LENT BEGINS FEB. 22 The theme of this series for our Lenten services is God’s gift of forgiveness, especially as we find this forgiveness in the seven penitential psalms and in the practice of Confession and Absolution. The sermons and devotions in this series expound on the nature of sin as seen in the psalms, the devastating effects it has on the soul and the conscience, and what we receive through God’s gift of the forgiveness of sins in our Lord Jesus Christ. Each sermon also includes a portion of the Small Catechism for meditation and connection to the larger life of the Church.
LWML MISSION PROJECT for February is collecting items to fill "We Care" packages for our five college students from our congregation. It is important we show these individuals we haven't forgotten them. Items can include chap sticks, hand sanitizers, nail files, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, Band Aids, personal packs of facial tissues, gum, candy, notes, pencils, pens stamps, quarters for laundry or vending machines, etc. There is a collection box in the narthex for your contribution. We will be collecting until Wednesday, February 1st.
ALTAR GUILD - The annual meeting of the Altar guild was held on January 11. Bette Weddelman will remain Chairman, Mary Ramey as Treasurer and Pam Jones as Secretary. The guild will take care of the Communion Linens, Paraments, Banners and Flowers for the services. Contact Glenna Helmke or Deb Oberhaus if you need assistance with ordering flowers. You may want only one vase of flowers and the Altar guild will buy the other one. Contact the ladies and they will help you with this. Thank you for the donations to the Altar guild. New members are always welcome.
A PEEK FROM PRESCHOOL - For the month of January the children were working on the letters, P, Q, R & S. Our Bible stories included prayer and God’s Promise. We traveled to Liberty Center for our annual field trip to Pisinellos Pizza. The children had the experience of making their own pizzas and then eating them. We had a pajama party in the classroom, played with the parachute and painted. We sat up an obstacle course in the big room, learned about reduce, reuse and recycle, and rhyming words. The children practiced their shapes and worked on their 5 senses. God Bless
